"As the largest health service in the region, Ballarat Health Services (BHS) believes it is important to invest in its future leaders of the community. As an employer, it has found the Leadership Ballarat and Western Region (LBWR) Leaders Forum program particularly beneficial in developing employees who are positive, pro-active and socially just within the community.

BHS has been involved with LBWR since the beginning, sponsoring at least one staff member to participate in the program every year during the past 10 years. The talent of these participants goes beyond the program; they continue to lead change, invite innovation, challenge the status quo and push boundaries.

The benefits seen are numerous. Through LBWR, staff members have been exposed to a range of community experiences that require them to reflect and grow as individuals. This, in turn, allows them to think differently, ask questions and reflect on how leadership skills can be applied in day-to-day tasks at their workplace.

The BHS participants convert knowledge gained in the program into collective wisdom that has potential to influence decisions and improve the future in health service delivery.
For each of the individuals, it has been a time of personal challenge involving sometimes uncomfortable conversations and reflection on action, while developing lifelong friendships and connections within our community."
